Alec Newton

Alec has a Bachelor's (first) and Master's (distinction) degree in Sociology. Having really enjoyed university and wanting to continue using the skills he developed there, the research industry seemed a natural fit. Having worked on a range of projects, Alec realised he had a particular talent for survey scripting, enjoying the problem solving element which makes this discipline both challenging and satisfying and is now developing this aspect of his career. One of the most complex projects he has worked on so far, has been for the Legal Services Board assessing the prices of services offered by various legal firms. Alec was responsible for producing an incredibly complex, multi-faceted survey which involved multiple calculations/data transformation and problem solving. Being technologically adept, Alec is part of the team driving forward Navigator's survey scripting and data visualisation capabilities using a variety of software packages. Outside work Alec is a music fan and still collects physical media (e.g. CDs) and plays the piano to a high standard. He always enjoy cooking vegan food and going to the cinema.
